Combined Defence Services Examination is the gateway to a prestigious career in armed forces, and it will also provide you with a way of life that a ordinary man can only think of.

There are three sections in this exam:

  1. General Studies
  2. English
  3. Elementary Mathematics


Total number of questions in the section is 120. Here are various sections of English that you will face in the exam.

(1)- Spotting error which is mainly concerned with grammar if you have hold on it then you can easily score 15-20 marks in this section.

(2)- Antonyms, Synonyms, Concerned with vocab. You may see 20-40 questions from this section.

Reading Comprehension: In this section your basic understanding of English and your common sense is tested by the examiner.

Sentence Arrangement:- A good reader can score maximum marks in this section you will get to see at least 10 question from this section.

Cloze test:- A blend of Grammar, Vocab, and basic understanding of language and world will only help you in this section.

Elementary Mathematics:

The Elementary Mathematics paper will cover topics like Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration and Basic statistics. Usually the standard is that of matriculation.

Total number of questions in the section is 100 (100 Marks). The paper carries negative marking –.33 would be detected for each wrong answers.

ARITHMETIC:– Number system- Natural Numbers, Rational and Real Numbers, Addition, subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Decimal, Fractions, unitary methods, time and Distance, Percentages, Profit and loss, Ratio and proportion.

ALGEBRA:– Basic operations, simple factors, Reminder theorem, HCF, LCM, Theory of Polynomials, Graphical Solutions, Linear Equations.

TRIGONOMETRY:– Use of Trigonometric Tables, Sine X, Cos X, Tangent.

GEOMETRY:– Line and Angles, Similar Triangles, Properties of Angles.

MENSURATION:– Areas of Square, Rectangles, Triangle and circle.

STATISTICS:– Graphical Representation, Histograms, Bar charts.
